The weather is heating up, and hopefully so are your manuscripts! In case you need to add a little summer sizzle to your writing, here’s ten writing prompts.
- Embers blew across the field with the summer breeze.
- The mix of warm air and fresh flowers made an intoxicating fragrance.
- The thermometer finally died at 110.
- Flowers wilted under the relentless sun.
- Heat shimmered off the concrete slabs of the abandoned construction.
- The waves washed any trace of her footprints away.
- The new summer dress gave her more confidence than she needed.
- Children laughing reminded him of warmer days.
- A summer of drinking and merrymaking came to an abrupt end.
- By July he’d spent so much time sweating he felt like a dropped ice cream cone.
Bonus exercise: Write ten connected scenes, using each of the above writing prompts as the last line instead of the first sentence.
