We’re almost in June! I hope you’re ready for a longer writing challenge.
This month we’re going big. I mean bigger than other, more famous writing challenges. We’re going…..
30 days to 60k.

June 1st to June 30th. That’s how long you have to go from zero (or near zero) to 60,000 words. Two thousand words daily.
If the thought of doing that’s not exciting enough, you also have a plethora of goodies coming up:
- Story-Progressing Questions designed to make you think about what comes next.
- Weekly challenges: These will take place of the regular Micro Challenges and be aimed strictly at adding to longer manuscripts.
If you’re over on Bluesky, great news, I have more good stuff for you:
- Live Sprints with me! I’ll be hosting live #writingsprints for #30days60k. Check the schedule out below.
- Encouragement and check-ins. Share your progress with snippets and join fellow writers.
Unlike other challenges, this is open to either new or old projects. Got a story that needs rewritten? This is your chance. Have an outline for a six book series? Sharpen your pencils. No idea what you’re going to write? Warm up your keyboard, you’ve got writing to do!
Next week will be dedicated to getting ready to undertake a writing challenge. Not just figuring out what you need to be able to write 60k, but also organizing your time so you can write that amount.
We’ll officially get started on Monday with marking out days for writing but for this weekend I have a mini reflection exercise for you:
Take five minutes and write down what writing 60,000 would mean to you and your story.
When you’re done, put it up somewhere you can see it through the upcoming month as a reminder of why you’re doing this.
Live Sprint Schedule: All Times in Central Time, UTC -5:00
- June 3 10am – 3pm
- June 9th 10am – 3pm
- June 17th 9am – 2pm
- June 26th 9a – 2pm
